This policy explains how the Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Houston ("the Assembly," "we," "us") handles personal information collected through our SMS text messaging program, which sends reminders about Feast dates, locations, Holy Days, and other community gatherings to members and friends of the Houston Bahá'í community who have opted in to receive them. This policy applies only to information collected through that texting program; our general website privacy practices, if different, are described separately at [LINK TO GENERAL SITE PRIVACY POLICY, IF ANY].

When you opt in to receive text messages from us, we collect and store:

• Your mobile phone number

• Your name, if you provide it or if it is already known to us through community records

• Your sector or neighborhood grouping, if applicable, so we can send you locally relevant Feast information

• Your consent status (opted in or opted out) and the date it changed

We use this information solely to send you the text messages you signed up for: reminders about Feast dates, times, and locations, Holy Day observances, and occasional urgent community announcements. We do not use your phone number or name for any other purpose without your separate consent.

No mobile information collected through this text messaging program will be shared, sold, or otherwise disclosed to any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes. This includes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, regardless of purpose, except as described below.

We may share your information with:

• Our SMS service provider (currently Twilio, Inc.), solely to deliver the messages on our behalf, under Twilio's own privacy and security obligations

• A government authority or other third party, only if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process.

You should expect to receive approximately one to two text messages per month, more often around elections or urgent community matters. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. We do not charge for these messages ourselves.

You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP, CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, OPTOUT, STOPALL, or REVOKE to any message you receive from us. After you opt out, we will send one final confirmation message, and you will not receive further texts unless you opt back in by replying START or YES. Opting out of text messages does not affect your standing in the Houston Bahá'í community or your ability to receive announcements through other channels such as email or WhatsApp.

Reply HELP or INFO to any message for assistance, or contact us at assembly@houstonbahai.org

We retain your phone number and consent status for as long as you remain opted in, and for a reasonable period afterward to honor your opt-out request and comply with record keeping obligations. You may request that we delete your information entirely by contacting us at the address above.

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. The effective date at the top of this page will indicate when it was last revised. Material changes will be communicated to active subscribers.

If you have questions about this privacy policy or how your information is handled, contact the Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Houston at assembly@houstonbahai.org
